Everyplate plans on taking over your dinner table by making sure they’re making the best value proposition in the industry. In its essence, Everyplate aims to deliver fresh ingredients and great recipes to your doorstep, but at a lower price-point than much of the competition. While this sounds like a great idea, we’re curious how Everyplate compares to its main competitors. Can Everyplate find the best balance between cost-cutting and quality? Finding allergens takes two steps
Everyplate is based in New York and was launched by HelloFresh, another premium meal delivery service, with the promise of high quality at a low price. But before we dive in, there’s one aspect in which Everyplate differs from much of the competition. Everyplate uses a subscription-based model, meaning that your order will be delivered on a regular basis until you decide you don’t want it anymore. In case you’re worried, subscriptions are fairly flexible, but we’ll get to that later. The company delivers a wide range of attractive meals made from premium ingredients, but the vegetables are not organic, most likely as part of the cost-reduction efforts. For us, this wasn’t too much of an issue and most people can’t tell the difference anyway, although some claim they do. We’ll leave this one up to you!
How Does Everyplate Work?
Everyplate subscriptions are available for either 2 or 4 people (the family pack). Your subscription allows you to choose 3 out of 5 new recipes every week. Once you’ve made your pick, the ingredients will be tightly packed and sent to your home along with detailed, step-by-step instructions on how to prepare the meals to perfection. You may want to skip a delivery from time to time for a variety of reasons. Everyplate won’t get in your way. In fact, all you need to do is log in to your account and select the deliveries you’ll like to skip, and you’re done. If you change your mind, simply log in again and switch back. This type of flexibility also carries over to other order details such as setting delivery dates, changing your shipping address or switching to a different recipe. Just make sure to do so before the deadline, which is 5 days prior to your next scheduled delivery. Everyplate also has a very flexible cancelation policy, allowing you to do at any time.
While Everyplate is definitely suitable for any budget, it isn’t necessarily suitable for every diet type. While many other meal delivery services offer special menus for many specific diets, such as gluten-free, dairy-free, vegan or ketogenic, Everyplate keeps things simple by focusing on 8 weekly dishes. While some might view this as a disadvantage, this is one of the ways in which Everyplate makes such a compelling offer in terms of pricing.
Everyplate’s ingredients are easily one of the highest available quality, although they are not certified as organic like other meal deliveries may promise. Regardless of the argument on whether organic vegetables make a difference in terms of health or flavor, Everyplate’s ingredients are clearly top-tier and the results have been great every time. Spices are masterfully selected for each meal, bringing out the great natural flavors found in the meat and vegetables. Overall, we were very impressed with Everyplate’s recipes, specifically the Skillet Apple Pork Chops and Hoisin-Glazed steak which were absolutely delicious meals ready to become instant classics.
The Bottom Line
Everyplate is becoming a huge success and we totally understand why. Despite not having as much support for specialty diets, Everyplate is great if you aren’t under any dietary restrictions. Your subscription gets high-quality meals delivered directly to your door at a great price, and you aren’t bound in any way. You can change, cancel or reschedule your order simply by logging into your account.
